Anrox consortium meeting at the Fraunhofer ISSB in Erlangen

Creating a fail-safe and efficient electric drive system for automated electric robot taxis is the goal of the AnRox research project. EDI GmbH's contribution to the AnRox project is a smart intelligence layer in the form of an AI-based algorithm that selects the safest driving strategy in the event of problems with individual systems (e.g. sensors, power supply, drive systems) with a view to the current driving environment (motorway, country road, in the city). In the event of a fault, the EDI-DRM (Dynamic Risk Management) decides which strategy for stopping is safest and most comfortable for the passengers. This increases the acceptance of autonomous vehicles. Common functional safety standards of the automotive industry, such as SOTIF, ASIL and HARA, are used. Adapted to the current traffic situation, different strategies are applied depending on the route.

With the traffic flow simulation software PTV Vissim, rides on specific routes are simulated in x-fold real time for 24 or 48 hours in order to train the AI and quantify the level of safety achieved.

In order to exchange information on the status of the project and coordinate the next steps, the project partners met the week before last for a consortium meeting at the Fraunhofer IISB Institute in Erlangen. Our thanks go to PTV, IPG, Bosch, Mercedes-Benz and Fraunhofer IISB for the excellent cooperation. In particular, we would also like to thank the Bundesministerium für Wirtschaft und Energie (BMWi) for funding the project.
